The reaction of two simple iron compounds reacting with sunshine to produce photographic blueprints never ceases to amaze.  But it is the Alchemy of the wash process; when a new print reveals its secret and ethereal, blue image that got me hooked on the process in the first place.  And it is one of my favourite parts of teaching the Cyanotype Workshops ~ I’m always watching for the inevitable delight and wonder on the participant’s faces.

Combining Art and Creativity, with some Science and Photographic History, you’ll learn to mix the solutions to make your own light sensitive paper, and learn techniques to capture the sun that will produce at least two Photographic Blue Prints of your own to take home (& more if we’re lucky to have the sun shine on us*).

* If we are unlucky to have no sunshine we use the UV lamps in the studio so the workshop can take place whatever the weather.

Learn an ancient technique that requires no specialist or costly equipment and with a little imagination take home a simple, affordable creative hobby that could, if i am anything to go by, easily become a healthy obsession.

Your course fee also includes a coffee or pot of tea and a piece of cake from Woody's at The Tollgate. Do feel free to turn up early or stay after as they serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.
